Have you ever heard of Moodle Mooc?

Moodle Mooc is not a phrase you hear everyday. Before today, my knowledge of this topic was non existent.  Moodle Moocs are free online courses that allow individuals to learn at their own pace and speed. The lectures are always recorded this way a student will have the ability to listen to the lecture for a second (or third) time in order to make their online learning unique. Even if you miss a class, you can still go to the link and listen to the recording. Trust me you could spend all day listening to these brilliant educators!

The person giving the lecture even provides the listeners with a syllabus before the class begins. I also enjoy the fact that there is a chat on the side where you can ask questions, and you can even click on a button called "raise your hand" that will get the speakers attention. There are over 1500 people who participate in these courses at a time from all over the world. The difference between Wiz IQ and Moodle are that Wiz IQ is used for a virtual classroom, whereas Moodle is a learning management system where students can work on their own time. You can even share a class with a friend on Web 2.0 social media such as: Linkedin, Google Plus, and Twitter. Many of the presenters encourage you to share with others who may be interested in the topic! I had the opportunity to sit in on a class run by the man and genius who created Moodle Moocs! Below you will see a screen shot of Martin Dougiamas (the creator of Moodle Mooc) as well as an example of a Moodle profile for students.

I would like to invite you to watch a semi-short YouTube clip that Dr. Nellie Deutsch has prepared on how to navigate Moodle Mooc.

Just in case you were interested in listening to Martin Dougiamas speak, here is the link to the Wiz IQ website. Create an account! It's harmless and most importantly free! http://www.wiziq.com/online-class/1255692-moodle-mooc-pre-course-introductions
